MEMBER EVENTS28|SSA 20th AGM & Cocktail ReceptionSSA 20th Annual General MeetingThe Association held its 20th Annual General Meeting on 21 June 2016 at the Marina Mandarin Singapore. The meeting was attended by 105 ordinary members, 24 associate members and 3 individual members.The Chairman, Mr. Esben Poulsson, presented the President’s report and the Association’s activities report 2015/2016. The annual accounts 2015 and Auditor’s report for the financial year ended 31 December 2015 was also unanimously adopted.As Mr. Esben Poulsson was elected to succeed Mr Masamichi Morooka (Japan) as Chairman of International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), which represents 37 shipowner associations and over 80% of the world’s fleet; he reassured SSA members that it remains status quo with his position as the SSA President. Vice President and Honorary Treasurer, Mr. Tan Chin Hee will be taking over to represent Singapore at ICS.Mr. Esben Poulsson also announced that Mr. Ong Kok Wah would be stepping down from SSA’s board of Trustee. He took the opportunity to express the Association’s heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Mr. Ong for his decades of service to the Association, where he had served as a SSA Council Member from 1985 to 2007, during which time he held various offices such as Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Vice President. Today, Mr. Ong is also one of four Honorary Members in the Association.It was further announced that Council member and Technical Committee Chairman Capt. Surendra Dutt of Anglo-Eastern Shipmanagement will be posted to Hong Kong after 22 years in Singapore. Council member, Mr. Steen Brodsgaard Lund from DNV-GL will take over the chairmanship of the Technical Committee.The ‘WAVES’ editorial team wishes Capt. Surendra Dutt the very best in his future endeavours!SSA 20th AGM Cocktail ReceptionMembers were invited to attend the cocktail reception after the AGM. During the AGM cocktail reception, Council Member and Offshore Services Committee Chairman, Capt. Mike Meade presented the plaques of appreciation to the OSV@Vivo organising committee members. The OSV@Vivo mascot, “Ah Huat” was also there to celebrate the success of the event!As covered in the last issue of ‘Waves’, the OSV@Vivo Open House took place during Singapore Maritime Week, from 21 to 23 April 2016 at the Waterfront Promenade of Vivo City.WAVES | ISSUE 51
