MARITIME CAREER CORNERFor youths who weren’t sure about what Singapore’s maritime ecosystem comprises, they were able to learn more about the various maritime sectors through the games specially created for the festival.If you think navigating through this the steady-hand game is tough, imagine how ship captains navigate the giant vessels through our busy port waters!Young maritime professionals were also invited to share their inspiring job experiences at the Festival’s Career CornerTo help Festival participants to gain awareness of their personality types, Employment & Employability Institute (e2i) also helped Festival participants to discover more about themselves through interesting personality profiling activities.Festival participants were able to find out more about their personalities through a simple test offered by e2i.6|SHOWCASE OF MARITIME YOUTH CLUB PROJECTSManaged by MPA, the Maritime Youth Club (MYC) is a core youth engagement programme to raise awareness of Maritime Singapore among youths, through organising maritime-related activities at their respective campuses. Some of the MYCs were also invited to participate at the Festival.Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD)Students from SUTD’s Multi-Rotor Society employed cutting-edge technology in the maritime context by adopting laser- cutting techniques to create vessel models that festival participants raced with. The students also showed the aerial views of our lighthouses that are captured by drones which are constructed by them.Singapore Polytechnic (SP)Ever wondered what maritime would smell like? Festival participants were able to follow their noses to the booth where students from SP’s Diploma in Perfumery and Cosmetics Science showcased their specially curated maritime-scent, ‘Ocean Dream’.Temasek Polytechnic (TP)Designers from TP’s School of Design expressed their definition of “maritime” by printing maritime-themed t-shirts and tote bags for a good cause. Proceeds from sales were directed to the Design Project Fund for the school’s needy students.Festival participants were able to put their skills to test as they built their own vessels at Singapore University of Technology and Design’s booth.Students from Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Perfumery and Cosmetics Science showcasing their specially curated scent to Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of Transport.Festival participants rendering support at Temasek Polytechnic’s booth, where proceeds from e-sales were directed to the Design Project Fund for the school’s needy students.NEWSMARITIME SPARTAN YOUTH CHALLENGE Maritime Singapore is vital, versatile, resilient and leading; and our Maritime Spartan Youth Challengers demonstrated these attributes during their attempts to overcome the 11 Spartan obstacles.AROO!
