The UK Government’s 




perspective












H
er Majesty’s Government (HMG) took 


advantage of the eyes of global maritime being 

irmly on the UK to promote the UK’s maritime

sector by a hosting a number of high proile events 

during LISW15 including:

• A ministerial roundtable at 10 Downing Street,

hosted by the Secretary of State for Transport, 


where the outputs from the Maritime Growth 

Study were discussed by senior global business 

leaders from across the sector.

• A Welcome reception at Lancaster House, jointly 

hosted by Maritime UK and HMG was attended 


by HRH The Princess Royal, which welcomed 

attendees formally to the week.
• 
The Department for Transport and the Ministry 

of Defence jointly hosted a reception on board 

HMS Portland highlighting the UK’s contribution 

to global maritime to an international audience.

• 
An afternoon tea reception showcasing the work 

of the UK Ship Register and encouraging ship 

owners to lag with the UK.

The week culminated with the LISW15

Conference which looked at the challenges likely to 


face the sector over the next 10 years and placed 

LISW15 irmly at the centre of global maritime 

thought leadership in 2015.
