Government highlights
its support for the UK
maritime sector during
London International
Shipping Week
T
he British Government will pull out all
the stops to keep the UK a world-leading
maritime centre, working in partnership with
industry as well as investing in technology, skills and
training to ensure maritime growth.
These were the key messages as the
Government outlined its plans to keep the UK
at the forefront of the global shipping market
during the successful London International
Shipping Week.
Delivering the keynote speech at the lagship
LISW15 Conference, The Right Honourable
Greg Hands, MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury,
said: “As a sector, maritime supports hundreds of
thousands of jobs across the UK – with signiicant
regional clusters of expertise, and major recent
private sector investments in Felixstowe,
Southampton, London, Hull, and Liverpool.”
