LEDs have an operational life time expectation of up to 100,000 hours – equivalent to 11 years of 24/7 operation, with maintenance costs and time-consuming replacement thus largely reduced.Singapore-based Beng Hui Marine Electrical, part of BH Global, offers, offers a range of marine and offshore electrical supplies, including LED lighting solutions that provide green and innovative energy-efficient technologies and meet the demands of the harsh marine and offshore environment.Along with the life time expectation, Mr Lim said LED lights have outstanding energy efficiency when compared withconventional lightings – as high as 90% when compared with incandescent lamps – they are light and compact, contain no toxic materials, are 100% recyclable and able to operate in extreme hot and cold temperatures – up to 50°C and as low as -50°C “which conventional fluorescent lightings are incapable of achieving – this is ideal for vessels in the Arctic region.”“Because LED lights are extremely durable and resistant to vibrations, they also make great outdoor lighting systems for rough conditions especially in the marine and offshore industry,” said Mr Lim.Smart LED lights can be designed in any shape, with dimming, flashing, colour-changing and other controllable features and can be integrated easily into other electronic monitoring systems such as surveillance, anti-piracy or other IoT systems to enhance the safety and security at sea. u58 | The Ship Supplier | Issue 70 2016
