Those We Left Behind

Years of lies start to unravel when an old case comes back to haunt DCI Serena
Flanagan in this gripping new novel from crime writer Stuart Neville.

When 12-year-old Ciaran Devine confessed to murdering his foster father it sent
shock waves through the nation.

DCI Flanagan, then an ambitious Detective Sergeant, took Ciaran’s confession after
days spent earning his trust. He hasn’t forgotten the kindness she showed him – in

fact, she hasn’t left his thoughts in the seven years he’s been locked away.

Probation oficer Paula Cunningham, now tasked with helping Ciaran re-enter society,
suspects there was more to this case than the police uncovered. Ciaran’s confession

saved his brother Thomas from a far lengthier sentence, and Cunningham can see the
unnatural hold Thomas still has over his vulnerable younger brother.

When she brings her fears to DCI Flanagan, the years of lies begin to unravel, setting
a deadly chain of events in motion.

Tate Liverpool has been presenting the irst exhibition in more than three decades to
survey the late paintings of US artist Jackson Pollock, made between 1951 and 1953, a

Pollock is widely considered to be one of the most important and provocative

American artists of the 20th century, whose work has made an immense contribution
to abstract art. He famously pioneered ‘action painting’ – a process that saw him drip

paint on canvases laid lat on the studio loor. Jackson Pollock: Blind Spots
This exhibition focuses on the latter part of his career, shedding light on a less known Showing now until 18th October, 2015
