ISSA and Ship Supply News
Celebrations galore
for ASSA
I
t was a double celebration for the Australian Ship Suppliers
& Services Association (ASSA) when they attended ISSA’s
60th Convention & Trade Exhibition in Singapore.
For along with celebrating ISSA’s diamond jubilee, the
association celebrated its 35th anniversary and staged its
Annual General Meeting to coincide with the ISSA celebrations.
In total, 17 members and 11 accompanying persons
attended from Australia making it the largest contingent from
Australia ever to attend the ISSA event.
At the AGM, Jim Costalos, from Southern Cross Marine
Supplies, was re-elected Chairman for a two-year term and
Pandu Jagersberger, from Sealanes, was elected Vice Chairman.
The celebrations were marked by the awarding of
inaugural ISSA Life Memberships to two association
stalwarts, Fen Thompson and Victor Paino, for their
outstanding participation and performance to the association
over many years.
Fen Thompson was the inaugural Chairman elected in
1980 and has served as Chairman on seven occasions and Vice
Chairman three times. He has represented ASSA as the ISSA
delegate and been a strong campaigner ensuring the voice of
ship suppliers are heard at all levels of government and the
ship supply chain.
Victor Paino was Chairman for eight consecutive
years from 1993 to 2000 and was Vice Chairman on
two occasions. He was instrumental in bringing the ISSA
Convention & Exhibition to Brisbane, Australia in 2000,
which was a big success. u
