deliver stores and often, suppliers have had to wait and lose a
great deal of time.
The Stevedore Union is continuing with its efforts
to handle stores from trucks and to load ships. In
addition to this, at some terminals, they are now forced
to supply vessels by going alongside with the use of a launch. This active
association has brought the matter to the customs table, regarding the lack of
control in overseeing cowboys who act as ship suppliers when they are not
actually legal companies.
A further claim in progress with customs in Brazil is for the regulation
prohibiting suppliers to sell and supply medicines to be reconsidered. On
November 13th to 15th, ABFN held its annual meeting in Salvador Bahia where
many of the above mentioned matters were discussed and ABFN also held its
election for its committee members, who will serve from 1st January 2015 to
31st December 2017.
Paulo Rodriguez Filho was elected as President, José Valeriano Santiago as
Vice President, Marcelo de Britos e Silva as Treasurer, and Gustavo Pierotti as
Secretary. We wish them two very successful years ahead. u
