VETTINGKEEP THE POSITIVE MOMENTUM GOINGBy Capt Atul Vatsa,Senior Manager, Marine Standards and Vetting, Tanker DivisionEvery quarter, Thome Group produces a report which highlights its performance regarding how well the vessels it manages have performed in the various mandatory inspections undergone during port visits. The Q3 results for 2016 show that the average numberof observations per inspection were at 3.03 and comparingthis with Thome’s YTD figures which are currently 3.02 observations per inspection, the good news is that these results are broadly in line with Thome’s overall KPI targets.Overall the 3rd Quarter results have dipped, and an extra effort is required to ensure we keep the positive momentum going.Key performance indicators which we need to keep focused on to ensure continuous improvement are as follows:• 31% of the inspections are outside the KPI• Q3 performance has been above the KPI• 47% of the observations are moderate to high risk• 30% of the observations are related to Chapter 11 & 12• 16% of the observations are related to safetymanagementSome key focus areas for 2016 based on the 2015 results are as follows:• Remove high risk observations• Reduce the number of repeats• Observations related to Chapter 11 & 12• Reduce the number of observations recorded as“Rectified during the inspection” – this has seenan improvement and we are down to 5% of such observations as compared to the previous year of 10%. The following vessels achieved “NIL” observations during3rd Quarter of 2016Congratulations to the crews on these vessels!Comparing 2015 with 2016 we have seen improvements in various chapters and will focus on those where we feel improvements can be made like Chapter 12 which has remained on a par with our performance in 2015.FSL HongkongTesoroFront CougarStatoilMari BoyleBHPMaritinaStatoilDensa whaleP6616 | ISSUE 47 | DECEMBER 2016
